Telecommunications Jobs and MBA Programs in Ohio

Many educational and employment opportunities are available for information technology directors in Ohio. For information technology directors, there are 14,750 jobs in Ohio and this is projected to grow by 21 percent to 14,510 jobs by 2016. However, this is not quite as good as the national trend for information technology directors, which sees the job pool growing at about 23 percent over the next 10 years. In general, information technology directors install, configure, and support an organization's local area network, wide area network, and Internet system or a segment of a network system.

State figures show that information technology directors in Ohio earn $30 per hour or $62,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $33 hourly or $69,000 per year on average.

Ohio, also known as the Buckeye State, is home to 11,542,645 people. It's population has increased 1.7 percent over the last 10 years. The state capital is Columbus. There were 6,819,050 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Ohio earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $35,889, up from $35,174. The unemployment rate in Ohio was 10.2 percent in 2009. It went up by 3.6 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 21.1 percent. This is under the national average.

The top employing fields in Ohio include fabricated metal product manufacturing, soap detergent manufacturing, forging and other rubber product manufacturing.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Columbus is the state capital and Ohio's largest city. One of the unique tidbits about Ohio is The Y Bridge in Zanesville was first built in 1814 to span the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum Rivers. The current bridge is the fifth construction at the same location. "Ripley's Believe It or Not" proclaimed it the only bridge in the world which you can cross and still be on the same side of the river.

Information technology directors install, configure, and support an organization's local area network, wide area network, and Internet system or a segment of a network system.

They regularly maintain computer networks and related computing environments including both hardware and software. They also operate master consoles to track the performance of computer systems and direct computer network access and use.

They are required to evaluate the effectiveness of systems in order to improve their performance. Also, they must think through complex problems and develop a critical analysis of the situation and possible solutions.

Information technology directors should be able to articulate ideas and problems and think through problems and come up with general rules.

In order to be successful in the workplace, information technology directors must be reliable and believe in an agile approach to problem solving and deal with change.
