State figures show that information technology directors in North Carolina earn $32 per hour or $66,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $33 hourly or $69,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Tar Heel State, North Carolina has a population of 9,380,884. It has seen its population grow by 16.5 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Raleigh. Information technology directors should be able to articulate ideas and problems and think through problems and come up with general rules.

In order to be successful in the workplace, information technology directors must be reliable and believe in an agile approach to problem solving and deal with change.
