The job pool for information technology directors in New Mexico is growing and currently sits at 1,440. A 38 percent bump in the number of jobs is projected to put the figure at 1,940 by 2016. This exceeds the national growth trend for information technology directors. National projections show a rise of just 23 percent over the next 10 years. Information technology directors install, configure, and support an organization's local area network, wide area network, and Internet system or a segment of a network system.

The income for information technology directors is $27 per hour or $55,000 per year on average in New Mexico. Nationally, their income is $33 hourly or $69,000 per year on average.

Most of New Mexico's lakes are man-made reservoirs. A dam on the Rio Grande formed the Elephant Butte Reservoir the state's largest lake.

They are required to evaluate the effectiveness of systems in order to improve their performance. Also, they must think through complex problems and develop a critical analysis of the situation and possible solutions.

Information technology directors should be able to articulate ideas and problems and think through problems and come up with general rules.

In order to be successful in the workplace, information technology directors must be reliable and believe in an agile approach to problem solving and deal with change.
