Technology Management Jobs and MBA Programs in Ohio

The education and job opportunities are plentiful for technology managers in Ohio. There are currently 9,060 jobs for technology managers in Ohio and that number is growing. A projected rise of 10 percent in employment opportunities will make the figure 9,440 jobs by 2016. This is lower than the national growth trend for technology managers. National projections showing a rise of just 16 percent over the next 10 years. Technology managers create and implement information systems for a client firm and supervise their maintenance.

Technology managers earn $53 per hour or $110,000 per year on average in Ohio. Nationally, their income is $57 hourly or $118,000 per year on average.

With a population of 11,542,645, Ohio, also called Buckeye State, has grown by 1.7 percent in the last 10 years. Columbus is the state capital. There were a total of 6,819,050 jobs in 2008 and people in Ohio earned more than the previous year as the average annual income was $35,889, up from $35,174. Unemployment in Ohio jumped by 3.6 percentage points to 10.2 percent in 2009. Roughly 21.1 percent of Ohio residents have college degrees, which is lower than the national average.

Fabricated metal product manufacturing, soap detergent manufacturing, forging and other rubber product manufacturing are the top employing fields in Ohio.

One of the many things Ohio is known for, Columbus is the state capital and Ohio's largest city. Ohio has many unique characteristics, but one fun fact in particular is The Y Bridge in Zanesville was first built in 1814 to span the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum Rivers. The current bridge is the fifth construction at the same location. "Ripley's Believe It or Not" proclaimed it the only bridge in the world which you can cross and still be on the same side of the river.

Technology managers create and implement information systems for a client firm and supervise their maintenance.

While working, they evaluate data processing proposals to gauge project feasibility and requirements. Also, they inspect and approve all systems charts and programs before their implementation.

They are required to evaluate the effectiveness of systems in order to improve their performance. Also, they must pay attention to ongoing situations and monitor them as they develop.

Technology managers should be able to read and understand documents and reports and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, technology managers must have exceptional integrity and be reliable.
