Agents can find success in New York as the state has plenty of educational and employment prospects. The job pool for agents in New York is growing and currently sits at 1,550. A five percent bump in the number of jobs is projected to put the figure at 3,060 by 2016. This is lower than the national growth trend for agents. National projections showing a rise of just 22 percent over the next 10 years. Agents represent and promote artists, performers, and athletes to prospective employers and handle contract negotiation and other business matters for clients.

The income for agents is $52 per hour or $108,000 per year on average in New York. Nationally, their income is $39 hourly or $81,000 per year on average.

New York, nicknamed the Empire State, has seen its population grow 3.0 percent to 19,541,453 over the last decade. The state capital is Albany. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 11,289,001 and the average annual income in New York was $48,809, which is up from $47,628 the previous year.
