Retail Enterprise Management Jobs and MBA Programs in Hawaii

Hawaii is a good place to settle for retail sales managers as there are many educational and career opportunities. At 6,640, the number of jobs in Hawaii for retail sales managers is projected to rise four percent to 10,080 jobs by 2016. This rise is below the projected rise of the national job pool, which shows an increase of five percent in the number of retail sales manager jobs over the next 10 years. In general, retail sales managers directly supervise sales workers in a retail establishment or department and participate in purchasing, budgeting and personnel decisions.

State figures show that retail sales managers in Hawaii earn $20 per hour or $42,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $19 hourly or $39,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Aloha State, Hawaii has a population of 1,295,178. It has grown by 6.9 percent in the last 10 years. Honolulu is the state capital. There were 873,749 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Hawaii earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $42,078, up from $40,924. The unemployment rate in Hawaii was 6.8 percent in 2009. It went up by 2.8 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 26.2 percent. This is below the national average.

Hotels, clothing accessories stores, full-service restaurants and clothing stores are the top employing fields in Hawaii.

Hawaii is known for having important landmarks. Two of the tallest mountains in the Pacific - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - dominate the center of the island. Most of the world's macadamia nuts are grown on the island. One of the many things Hawaii is known for, Haleakala Crater (Ha-lay-ah-ja-lah), is the world's largest dormant volcano.

Retail sales managers directly supervise sales workers in a retail establishment or department and participate in purchasing, budgeting and personnel decisions.

While working, they supervise employees working on sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, and performing services for clients and work with company officials to evolve methods to increase sales and promote business.

They are required to pay attention to ongoing situations and monitor them as they develop and train others in tasks and process.

Retail sales managers should be able to articulate ideas and problems and listen to and understand others in meetings.

In order to be successful in the workplace, retail sales managers must have strong self control in the face of challenging situations and be reliable.
