This is better than the national trend for food service managers, which sees the job pool growing at about five percent over the next 10 years. In general, food service managers plan, direct, or coordinate activities of an organization or department that serves food and beverages.

State figures show that food service managers in Missouri earn $29 per hour or $59,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $24 hourly or $50,000 per year on average.

Also known as the Show Me State, Missouri has a population of 5,987,580. It has grown by 7.0 percent in the last 10 years. Jefferson City is the state capital. There were 3,672,794 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Missouri earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $36,356, up from $35,120. The unemployment rate in Missouri was 9.3 percent in 2009. It went up by 3.2 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 21.6 percent. This is below the national average.

Stationery supplies merchant wholesalers, specialized freight trucking, related equipment merchant wholesalers and used household goods moving are the top employing fields in Missouri.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis, Missouri is the largest beer producing plant in the nation. Several important people were born in Missouri such as President Harry S. Truman, who was born in Lamar, May 8, 1884.

They regularly inspect work procedures and operational problems to establish ways to further optimize service or safety and monitor food preparation methods to insure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.

They are required to look for ways to help others. Also, they must respond to the actions of other and coordinate activities with them.

Food service managers must be able to articulate ideas and problems. They should also have the ability to listen to and understand others in meetings.

In order to be successful in the workplace, food service managers must have exceptional integrity and be able to take change and lead.
