Restaurant enterprise management consists of overseeing operations and development in restaurants and other establishments including managing the kitchen, dining room and banquet operations. With the information and knowledge this degree can provide, many students will find a range of careers available to them that would allow them to learn how to bring leadership to restaurants. Those looking to pursue a degree in this field will find management positions at restaurants, hotels or catering companies.
Students will find that the training provided in restaurant management programs is crafted for students interested in developing their skills in applying complex business theories and practices to various restaurant and hospitality situations. Primary courses will be taught in business communication, staff management, purchasing procedure, sanitation and facilities maintenance. Additional coursework will be available in wine service protocol, business law and banquet planning and beverage management. Graduates of an MBA program in restaurant enterprise management will become armed with not only the skills of the trade, but with the ability to solve problems specific to restaurants and hospitality. How long it takes to complete an MBA program will vary by the individual student, whether or not courses are taken full or part time, and the learning institution itself. On average, however, MBA programs take about two years to complete after first completing a bachelor's degree program.
The salary that graduates of an MBA program in restaurant enterprise management will make will depend heavily on their previous experience in the field, where they live and their specialty. Salaries for graduates of these programs are comparable to national averages, but depending on the industry can often be lower than those of their counterparts with an MBA in other fields. These earnings come from careers in a wide range of fields. Positions may be available as food service manager, gaming manager, restaurant trainer, banquet and facilities manager and a range of other fields. Like most area, restaurant enterprise management can be a valuable and in-demand one to pursue, especially at the MBA level.
