Operations Management Jobs and MBA Programs in New York

New York is a good place to settle for operations managers as there are many educational and career opportunities. The number of jobs for operations managers in New York is currently 98,350 and falling. A four percent dip in the number of jobs is projected to put the figure at 92,440 by 2016. This is below a steady national projection. In general, operations managers create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing needs and identify resources needed to complete project.

State figures show that operations managers in New York earn $63 per hour or $131,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

New York, nicknamed the Empire State, has seen its population grow 3.0 percent to 19,541,453 over the last decade. The capital is Albany. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 11,289,001 and the average annual income in New York was $48,809, which is up from $47,628 the previous year. Unemployment increased to 8.4 percent in 2009, a jump of 3.1 percentage points from the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 27.4 percent, which is under the national average.

In New York, the top employers are in securities contracts intermediation, investment banking dealing, notions merchant wholesalers and real estate.

They are required to respond to the actions of other and coordinate activities with them. Also, they must listen well to others and take in their information and issues.

Operations managers should be able to listen to and understand others in meetings and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, operations managers must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
