Those looking for careers as operations managers should consider the educational and employment opportunities in Montana. There are currently 6,440 jobs for operations managers in Montana and that number is growing. A 14 percent bump in the number of jobs is projected to put the figure at 8,230 by 2016. State figures show that operations managers in Montana earn $37 per hour or $77,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

Montana, nicknamed the Treasure State, has seen its population grow 8.1 percent to 974,989 over the last decade. Helena is the state capital. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 651,425 and the average annual income in Montana was $34,622, which is up from $33,927 the previous year. Unemployment increased to 6.2 percent in 2009, a jump of 1.6 percentage points from the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 24.4 percent, which is under the national average.

In order to be successful in the workplace, operations managers must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
