Louisiana has an abundance of educational and career opportunities for operations managers. The job pool for operations managers in Louisiana is growing and currently sits at 34,920. State figures show that operations managers in Louisiana earn $45 per hour or $92,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

Louisiana, nicknamed the Pelican State, has seen its population grow 0.5 percent to 4,492,076 over the last decade. The state capital is Baton Rouge. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 2,576,960 and the average annual income in Louisiana was $36,091, which is up from $35,340 the previous year. Unemployment increased to 6.8 percent in 2009, a jump of 2.3 percentage points from the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 18.7 percent, which is under the national average.

The top employing fields in Louisiana include petroleum products manufacturing, petroleum refineries, basic chemical manufacturing and natural gas liquid extraction.

Having known landmarks is a staple for Louisiana. Louisiana has the tallest state capitol building in the United States; the building is 450 feet tall with 34 floors. While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, The Superdome in New Orleans is the world's largest steel-constructed room unobstructed by posts.

While working, they oversee the movement of goods into and out of production facilities and decide on staffing requirements and interview hire and train new employees.

They are required to respond to the actions of other and coordinate activities with them. Also, they must listen well to others and take in their information and issues.

Operations managers should be able to listen to and understand others in meetings and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, operations managers must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
