Operations Management Jobs and MBA Programs in Hawaii

Many educational and employment opportunities are available for operations managers in Hawaii. In Hawaii, there are currently 9,010 jobs for operations managers and this is projected to fall by one percent to 8,490 jobs by 2016. This is below the national trend, which shows relatively little movement. Operations managers create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing needs and identify resources needed to complete project.

The income for operations managers is $46 per hour or $96,000 per year on average in Hawaii. Nationally, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Aloha State, Hawaii is home to 1,295,178 people. It has grown by 6.9 percent in the last 10 years. Honolulu is the state capital. In 2008, there were a total of 873,749 jobs and at $42,078, the average annual income in Hawaii was higher than the previous year's per capita figure of $40,924. The unemployment rate in Hawaii was 6.8 percent in 2009. It rose by 2.8 percentage points from the previous year. Roughly 26.2 percent of state residents have college degrees. This is below the national average.

Hotels, clothing accessories stores, full-service restaurants and clothing stores are the top employing fields in Hawaii.

Hawaii is known for having important landmarks. Two of the tallest mountains in the Pacific - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - dominate the center of the island. Most of the world's macadamia nuts are grown on the island. One of the many things Hawaii is known for, Haleakala Crater (Ha-lay-ah-ja-lah), is the world's largest dormant volcano.

Operations managers create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing needs and identify resources needed to complete project.

While working, they oversee the movement of goods into and out of production facilities and decide on staffing requirements and interview hire and train new employees.

They are required to respond to the actions of other and coordinate activities with them. Also, they must listen well to others and take in their information and issues.

Operations managers should be able to listen to and understand others in meetings and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, operations managers must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
