Operations Management Jobs and MBA Programs in Arkansas

Arkansas has plenty of educational and career opportunities for operations managers. There are currently 11,350 jobs for operations managers in Arkansas and that number is growing. A five percent bump in the number of jobs is projected to put the figure at 11,570 by 2016. This is above a steady national projection. In general, operations managers create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing needs and identify resources needed to complete project.

State figures show that operations managers in Arkansas earn $43 per hour or $90,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

Arkansas, nicknamed the Natural State, has seen its population grow 8.1 percent to 2,889,450 over the last decade. Little Rock is the state capital. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 1,599,446 and the average annual income in Arkansas was $32,257, which is up from $31,517 the previous year. Unemployment increased to 7.3 percent in 2009, a jump of 2.1 percentage points from the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 16.7 percent, which is under the national average.

Poultry processing, plumbing equipment merchant wholesalers, commercial refrigeration equipment manufacturing and industrial refrigeration equipment manufacturing are the top employing fields in Arkansas.

One of the many things Arkansas is known for, North Little Rock offers one of the nation's largest municipal parks. Arkansas has many unique characteristics, but one fun fact in particular is In 1783 the Colbert Incident occurred at Arkansas Post. It was the only Revolutionary War skirmish in the state.

While working, they oversee the movement of goods into and out of production facilities and decide on staffing requirements and interview hire and train new employees.

They are required to respond to the actions of other and coordinate activities with them. Also, they must listen well to others and take in their information and issues.

Operations managers should be able to listen to and understand others in meetings and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, operations managers must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
