Delaware is a great place to settle for non-profit and government managers as there are many educational and employment prospects. At 690, the number of jobs in Delaware for non-profit and government managers is projected to rise 14 percent to 670 jobs by 2016. With the national projections showing a rise of just 13 percent over the next 10 years, the prospects in Delaware are better relative to the nation as a whole. In general, non-profit and government managers supervise the activities of a social service program or community outreach organization and oversee areas such as budget and policy creation.

In Delaware, the income for non-profit and government managers is $30 per hour or $62,000 per year. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $29 hourly or $60,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the First State, Delaware has a population of 885,122. It has seen its population grow by 13.0 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Dover. In 2008, there were a total of 553,149 jobs and at $40,375, the average annual income in Delaware was higher than the previous year's per capita figure of $39,932. The unemployment rate in Delaware was 8.1 percent in 2009. It rose by 3.2 percentage points from the previous year. Roughly 25.0 percent of state residents have college degrees. This falls short of the national average.

In Delaware, the top employers are in nondurable goods merchant wholesalers, management of companies, management of companies and offices of other holding companies.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Rehoboth Beach is the state's largest coastal resort town. Non-profit and government managers must be able to articulate ideas and problems. They should also have the ability to listen to and understand others in meetings.

In order to be successful in the workplace, non-profit and government managers must have exceptional integrity and have a strong concern for others.
