People considering careers as advertising managers can find job and education opportunities in New York. There are currently 5,400 jobs for advertising managers in New York and that number is growing. A projected rise of two percent in employment opportunities will make the figure 6,210 jobs by 2016. This increase goes against the national trend for advertising managers. National projections show a decline of one percent over the next 10 years. Advertising managers plan and direct advertising policies and programs or produce collateral materials, such as posters, contests, or give-aways, to create extra interest in the purchase of a product or service for a department, an entire organization, or on an account basis.

Advertising managers earn $66 per hour or $137,000 per year on average in New York. Nationally, their income is $46 hourly or $94,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Empire State, New York has a population of 19,541,453, which has grown by 3.0 percent in the last 10 years. Albany is the state capital. There were a total of 11,289,001 jobs in 2008 and people in New York earned more than the previous year as the average annual income was $48,809, up from $47,628. The unemployment rate in New York was 8.4 percent in 2009, which has grown by 3.1 percentage points since the previous year. New York has many unique characteristics, but one fun fact in particular is The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan is the only school in the world offering a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing.

In order to be successful in the workplace, advertising managers must be thorough and dependable and believe in innovation and creative thought.
