Figures show 3,230 jobs for marketing managers in Virginia and according to national projections, the job pool will rise by 12 percent over the next 10 years. Marketing managers determine the demand for products and services offered by a firm and its competitors and identify potential customers and develop strategies for maximizing profits while ensuring customer satisfaction.

The income for marketing managers is $62 per hour or $129,000 per year on average in Virginia. Nationally, their income is $57 hourly or $118,000 per year on average.

Virginia, nicknamed the Old Dominion, has seen its population grow 11.4 percent to 7,882,590 over the last decade. The state capital is Richmond. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 4,916,428 and the average annual income in Virginia was $44,075, which is up from $43,158 the previous year. In order to be successful in the workplace, marketing managers must be reliable and be thorough and dependable.
