Leadership Jobs and MBA Programs in Hawaii

Hawaii is a great place to settle for operating officers as there are many educational and employment prospects. Figures show 1,480 jobs for operating officers in Hawaii and the job pool is projected to shrink by one percent over the next 10 years nationally. In general, operating officers recognize and create policies for the overall direction of companies or private and public sector organizations.

In Hawaii, the income for operating officers is $73 per hour or $152,000 per year. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $77 hourly or $160,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Aloha State, Hawaii has a population of 1,295,178. It has seen its population grow by 6.9 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Honolulu. In 2008, there were a total of 873,749 jobs and at $42,078, the average annual income in Hawaii was higher than the previous year's per capita figure of $40,924. The unemployment rate in Hawaii was 6.8 percent in 2009. It rose by 2.8 percentage points from the previous year. Roughly 26.2 percent of state residents have college degrees. This falls short of the national average.

In Hawaii, the top employers are in hotels, clothing accessories stores, full-service restaurants and clothing stores.

Hawaii is known for having important landmarks. Two of the tallest mountains in the Pacific - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - dominate the center of the island. Most of the world's macadamia nuts are grown on the island. One of the many things Hawaii is known for, Haleakala Crater (Ha-lay-ah-ja-lah), is the world's largest dormant volcano.

Leadership

Operating officers recognize and create policies for the overall direction of companies or private and public sector organizations.

They regularly present data at meetings or conventions to promote services and accomplish objectives and direct business or departmental efforts concerned with the production or distribution of products.

They are required to evaluate and judge the efficacy of solutions and manage and maintain budgets and other financial resources.

Operating officers should be able to think through problems and come up with general rules and piece together evidence to, in some sense, diagnose what is going on in a situation.

In order to be successful in the workplace, operating officers must have exceptional integrity and want to innovate to meet new challenges.
