In Washington, there are currently 420 jobs for global business managers and this is projected to grow by 11 percent to 540 jobs by 2016. This is better than the national trend for global business managers, which sees the job pool growing at about five percent over the next 10 years. In general, global business managers conduct research, prepare reports, or formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

State figures show that global business managers in Washington earn $36 per hour or $73,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $44 hourly or $90,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Evergreen State, Washington is home to 6,664,195 people. It has grown by 13.1 percent in the last 10 years. Olympia is the state capital. There were 4,012,270 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Washington earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $42,747, up from $41,919. The unemployment rate in Washington was 8.9 percent in 2009. It went up by 3.5 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 27.7 percent. This is below the national average.

Software publishers, offices of dentists, monorail system manufacturing and refrigerated warehousing are the top employing fields in Washington.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Everett is the site of the world's largest building, Boeing's final assembly plant. One of the unique tidbits about Washington is the state of Washington is the only state to be named after a United States president.
