For hotel managers, there are 970 jobs in Ohio and this is projected to grow by three percent to 1,780 jobs by 2016. However, this is not quite as good as the national trend for hotel managers, which sees the job pool growing at about four percent over the next 10 years. In general, hotel managers plan, direct, or coordinate activities of an organization or department that provides lodging and other accommodations.

State figures show that hotel managers in Ohio earn $23 per hour or $47,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $25 hourly or $52,000 per year on average.

Ohio, also known as the Buckeye State, is home to 11,542,645 people. It has seen its population grow by 1.7 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Columbus. There were 6,819,050 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Ohio earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $35,889, up from $35,174. The unemployment rate in Ohio was 10.2 percent in 2009. It went up by 3.6 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 21.1 percent. This falls short of the national average.

In Ohio, the top employers are in fabricated metal product manufacturing, soap detergent manufacturing, forging and other rubber product manufacturing.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Columbus is the state capital and Ohio's largest city. One of the unique tidbits about Ohio is The Y Bridge in Zanesville was first built in 1814 to span the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum Rivers. The current bridge is the fifth construction at the same location. "Ripley's Believe It or Not" proclaimed it the only bridge in the world which you can cross and still be on the same side of the river.

They are required to pay attention to ongoing situations and monitor them as they develop. Also, they must note the reactions and responses of others in both work and social situations.

Hotel managers should be able to listen to and understand others in meetings and read and understand documents and reports.

In order to be successful in the workplace, hotel managers must believe in cooperation and coordination and have strong self control in the face of challenging situations.
