New York has an abundance of educational and career opportunities for entrepreneurs. There are currently 98,350 jobs for entrepreneurs in New York and that number is on the decline. A four percent dip in the number of jobs is projected to put the figure at 92,440 by 2016. This is below a steady national projection. In general, entrepreneurs create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing needs and identify resources needed to complete project.

State figures show that entrepreneurs in New York earn $63 per hour or $131,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

New York, nicknamed the Empire State, has seen its population grow 3.0 percent to 19,541,453 over the last decade. The state capital is Albany. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 11,289,001 and the average annual income in New York was $48,809, which is up from $47,628 the previous year. Unemployment increased to 8.4 percent in 2009, a jump of 3.1 percentage points from the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 27.4 percent, which is under the national average.

The top employing fields in New York include securities contracts intermediation, investment banking dealing, notions merchant wholesalers and real estate.

One of the many things New York is known for, New York's largest lake in Oneida measures 79.8 square miles. New York has many unique characteristics, but one fun fact in particular is The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan is the only school in the world offering a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing.

In order to be successful in the workplace, entrepreneurs must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
