Hawaii, also known as the Aloha State, is home to 1,295,178 people. It has seen its population grow by 6.9 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Honolulu. In 2008, there were a total of 873,749 jobs and at $42,078, the average annual income in Hawaii was higher than the previous year's per capita figure of $40,924. The unemployment rate in Hawaii was 6.8 percent in 2009. It rose by 2.8 percentage points from the previous year. Roughly 26.2 percent of state residents have college degrees. This falls short of the national average.

In Hawaii, the top employers are in hotels, clothing accessories stores, full-service restaurants and clothing stores.

Hawaii is known for having important landmarks. Two of the tallest mountains in the Pacific - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - dominate the center of the island. Most of the world's macadamia nuts are grown on the island. One of the many things Hawaii is known for, Haleakala Crater (Ha-lay-ah-ja-lah), is the world's largest dormant volcano.

In order to be successful in the workplace, entrepreneurs must be reliable and be able to take change and lead.
