State figures show that entrepreneurs in Georgia earn $44 per hour or $92,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $52 hourly or $107,000 per year on average.

Georgia, nicknamed the Peach State, has seen its population grow 20.1 percent to 9,829,211 over the last decade. The state capital is Atlanta. In 2008, the total number of jobs was 5,571,666 and the average annual income in Georgia was $34,849, which is up from $34,612 the previous year. Unemployment increased to 9.6 percent in 2009, a jump of 3.3 percentage points from the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 24.3 percent, which is under the national average.

The top employing fields in Georgia include motor vehicle vehicle parts merchant wholesalers, automobile motor vehicle merchant wholesalers, textile product mills and textile furnishings mills.

Georgia has many unique characteristics, but one fun fact in particular is Known as the sweetest onion in the world, the Vidalia onion can only be grown in the fields around Vidalia and Glennville.
