With the national projections showing a rise of just two percent over the next 10 years, the prospects in Massachusetts are better relative to the nation as a whole. In general, education administrators plan, direct, or coordinate research, instructional, student administration and services, and other educational activities at postsecondary institutions, including universities, and junior and community colleges.

State figures show that education administrators in Massachusetts earn $50 per hour or $104,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $45 hourly or $92,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Bay State, Massachusetts is home to 6,593,587 people. It has seen its population grow by 3.9 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Boston. There were 4,251,139 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Massachusetts earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $50,897, up from $49,644. The unemployment rate in Massachusetts was 8.4 percent in 2009. It went up by 3.1 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 33.2 percent. This surpasses the national average.

In Massachusetts, the top employers are in brokers, portfolio management, control instruments manufacturing and nautical system manufacturing.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Massachusetts holds the two largest cites in New England, Boston, the largest, and Worcester. One of the unique tidbits about Massachusetts is The Boston University Bridge on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston is the only place in the world where a boat can sail under a train driving under a car driving under an airplane.

In order to be successful in the workplace, education administrators must have exceptional integrity and be reliable.
