Maryland has an abundance of educational and career opportunities for economic analysts. State figures show that economic analysts in Maryland earn $51 per hour or $105,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Old Line State, Maryland is home to 5,699,478 people. It has seen its population grow by 7.6 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Annapolis. There were 3,471,985 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Maryland earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $48,164, up from $46,922. The unemployment rate in Maryland was 7.0 percent in 2009. It went up by 2.6 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 31.4 percent. This surpasses the national average.

In Maryland, the top employers are in engineering services, radio broadcasting communications equipment manufacturing, photofinishing and photofinishing laboratories (except one-hour).

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Swallow Falls State Park near Oakland showcases Muddy Creek Falls. At 63 feet it is the largest waterfall in Maryland. Economic analysts must be able to evaluate problems as they arise. They should also have the ability to articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, economic analysts must have exceptional integrity and believe in cooperation and coordination.
