Economics Jobs and MBA Programs in Indiana

Economic analysts can find many career and educational opportunities in Indiana. In Indiana, there are currently 6,670 jobs for economic analysts and the national job pool is slated to rise by seven percent over the next 10 years. Economic analysts conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

Economic analysts earn $47 per hour or $98,000 per year on average in Indiana. Nationally, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

With a population of 6,423,113, Indiana, also called Hoosier State, has grown by 5.6 percent in the last 10 years. Indianapolis is the state capital. There were a total of 3,718,148 jobs in 2008 and people in Indiana earned more than the previous year as the average annual income was $34,543, up from $33,702. Unemployment in Indiana jumped by 4.3 percentage points to 10.1 percent in 2009. Roughly 19.4 percent of Indiana residents have college degrees, which is lower than the national average.

Manufacturing, primary metal manufacturing, iron mills manufacturing and motor vehicle transmission train parts manufacturing are the top employing fields in Indiana.

One of the many things Indiana is known for, Most of the state's rivers flow south and west, eventually emptying into the Mississippi. However, the Maumee flows north and east into Lake Erie. Lake Wawasee is the states largest natural lake. Indiana has many unique characteristics, but one fun fact in particular is Crawfordsville is the home of the only known working rotary jail in the United States. The jail with its rotating cellblock was built in 1882 and served as the Montgomery County jail until 1972. It is now a museum.

While working, they recommend investments and investment timing. Also, they analyze financial information to forecast economic conditions.

They are required to manage and maintain budgets and other financial resources and evaluate and judge the efficacy of solutions.

Economic analysts must be able to evaluate problems as they arise. They should also have the ability to articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, economic analysts must have exceptional integrity and believe in cooperation and coordination.
