People considering careers as economic analysts can find job and education opportunities in Alaska. In Alaska, there are currently 1,130 jobs for economic analysts and national projections show the job pool increasing by seven percent over the next 10 years. In general, economic analysts conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

State figures show that economic analysts in Alaska earn $41 per hour or $84,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.
Nicknamed the Great Land, Alaska is home to 698,473 people. It has grown by 11.4 percent in the last 10 years. Juneau is the state capital. There were 452,986 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Alaska earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $43,922, up from $41,081. The unemployment rate in Alaska was 8.0 percent in 2009. It went up by 1.5 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 24.7 percent. This is below the national average.
