State figures show that e-commerce retailers in Virginia earn $49 per hour or $102,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $46 hourly or $95,000 per year on average.

Virginia, also known as the Old Dominion, is home to 7,882,590 people. It has seen its population grow by 11.4 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Richmond. There were 4,916,428 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Virginia earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $44,075, up from $43,158. The unemployment rate in Virginia was 6.7 percent in 2009. It went up by 2.8 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 29.5 percent. This surpasses the national average.

In Virginia, the top employers are in computer systems design services, data processing services, computer systems design services and internet service providers search portals.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Virginia's largest private employer is also the world's largest ship building yard. One of the unique tidbits about Virginia is the world's only oyster museum is on Chincoteague Island.

They are required to manage and maintain budgets and other financial resources. Also, they must think through complex problems and develop a critical analysis of the situation and possible solutions.

E-commerce retailers should be able to articulate ideas and problems and be creative and generate new ideas.

In order to be successful in the workplace, e-commerce retailers must be able to deal with stress and deal with situations calmly and believe in an agile approach to problem solving and deal with change.
