MBA Programs in Communication

Communication involves planning and directing public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for an employer or client. Those looking to pursue a degree in this field will find jobs in public relations for a wide variety of business organizations and governmental or non-profit institutions. With the skills and tools this degree can provide, many students will find an array of careers available to them in the business world that allow them to pursue their interest in communications while helping organizations maintain a positive public profile. As is the case with many business fields, communication can be a valuable and in-demand field to pursue, especially at the MBA level.

Students interested in the art of communication will find that training in communication is targeted to them. Primary courses will be taught in writing fundamentals, research methods, financial accounting and managerial economics. Additional coursework will be available in persuasive management communication, marketing strategy and statistics. The ability to understand how to effectively write and speak and understanding of how to use the latest technologies and apply their knowledge to a specific business are the skills graduates should emerge with. How long it takes to complete an MBA program will vary by the individual student, whether or not courses are taken full or part time, and the learning institution itself. On average, however, MBA programs take about two years to complete after first completing a bachelor's degree program.

The salary graduates of an MBA program in communication will earn depends heavily on what area of study they specialize in, where they are located, and their previous experience. While there is no guarantee of a specific salary, many MBA level graduates in the field report annual salaries of $65,000. These earnings come from careers in a wide range of industries with potentially available positions such as management consultant, advertising manager, public relations specialist and a range of other business related fields that may or may not be directly related to communication. Like most business fields, business administration can be a valuable and in-demand field to pursue, especially at the MBA level.
