Business Economics Jobs and MBA Programs in Utah

Controllers can find prosperity in Utah as the state has an abundance of educational and career opportunities. For controllers, there are 3,800 jobs in Utah and the national job pool is slated to rise by seven percent over the next 10 years. Controllers conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

Controllers earn $46 per hour or $95,000 per year on average in Utah. Nationally, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

With a population of 2,784,572, Utah, also called Beehive State, has grown by 24.7 percent in the last 10 years. Salt Lake City is the state capital. There were a total of 1,702,493 jobs in 2008 and people in Utah earned more than the previous year as the average annual income was $32,050, up from $31,800. Unemployment in Utah jumped by 2.9 percentage points to 6.6 percent in 2009. Roughly 26.1 percent of Utah residents have college degrees, which is lower than the national average.

Activities related to credit intermediation, nonferrous metal production, sporting goods manufacturing and used car dealers are the top employing fields in Utah.

Having known landmarks is a staple for Utah. Utah mountain peaks, on average, are the tallest in the country. The average elevation of the tallest peaks in each of Utah's counties is 11,222 ft.-higher than the same average in any other state. While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Rainbow Bridge, Nature's abstract sculpture carved of solid sandstone, is the world's largest natural-rock span. It stands 278 feet wide and 309 feet high.

Controllers conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

They regularly inform investment decisions by analyzing financial information and track organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies, and current accounting standards.

They are required to manage and maintain budgets and other financial resources and evaluate and judge the efficacy of solutions.

Controllers should be able to evaluate problems as they arise and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, controllers must have exceptional integrity and be able to absorb the factors involved and a problem and provide a well thought out solution.
