Oregon, also known as the Beaver State, has a population of 3,825,657. It has seen its population grow by 11.8 percent over the last 10 years. The capital is Salem. There were 2,339,488 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Oregon earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $36,365, up from $35,737. The unemployment rate in Oregon was 11.1 percent in 2009. It went up by 4.6 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 25.1 percent. This falls short of the national average.

In Oregon, the top employers are in wood product manufacturing, lumber construction materials merchant wholesalers, wood panel merchant wholesalers and footwear merchant wholesalers.

Oregon is known for having important landmarks. At 329 feet the Coast Douglas-Fir in Oregon is considered the tallest tree in the state. One of the many things Oregon is known for, in 1880 a sea cave was discovered near what is now known as Florence. Sea Lion Caves is known to be the largest sea cave in the world.

Controllers should be able to evaluate problems as they arise and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, controllers must have exceptional integrity and be able to absorb the factors involved and a problem and provide a well thought out solution.
