Business Economics Jobs and MBA Programs in Kentucky

The education and job opportunities are plentiful for controllers in Kentucky. Currently, there are 7,200 jobs for controllers in Kentucky and national projections show the job pool increasing by seven percent over the next 10 years. In general, controllers conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

State figures show that controllers in Kentucky earn $40 per hour or $82,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

Kentucky, also known as the Bluegrass State, has a population of 4,314,113. It has grown by 6.7 percent in the last 10 years. Frankfort is the state capital. There were 2,442,252 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Kentucky earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $31,936, up from $31,060. The unemployment rate in Kentucky was 10.5 percent in 2009. It went up by 3.9 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 17.1 percent. This is below the national average.

Tobacco product merchant wholesalers, alumina production, couriers and couriers are the top employing fields in Kentucky.

While being known for many things, one of the most noteworthy, Thunder Over Louisville is the opening ceremony for the Kentucky Derby Festival and is the world's largest fireworks display. One of the unique tidbits about Kentucky is Cumberland is the only waterfall in the world to regularly display a Moonbow. It is located just southwest of Corbin.

Controllers should be able to evaluate problems as they arise and articulate ideas and problems.

In order to be successful in the workplace, controllers must have exceptional integrity and be able to absorb the factors involved and a problem and provide a well thought out solution.
