Business economics involves activities such as conducting market research by analyzing data while monitoring economics trends and tracking scarce resources such as land, labor, raw materials and machinery. Those looking to pursue a degree in this field will find jobs in the management and operations of business organizations and governmental or non-profit institutions. With the skills, tools and abilities this program will teach, many students will find careers available in the business world that allow them to pursue their interest in markets while helping businesses to be more successful and profitable.
How long it takes to complete an MBA program will vary by the individual student, whether or not courses are taken full or part time, and the learning institution itself. On average, however, MBA programs take about two years to complete after earning a bachelor's degree. Students will find that the training required for a career in business economics is designed for students interested in the application of advanced economic analysis, principles, and thinking to the management and operation of organizations. While preliminary courses will be taught in macroeconomics, statistics, industrial organization and labor economics, additional coursework will be available in basic and advanced business practices that will allow students to translate their work from the classroom to the office.
Graduates of an MBA program in business economics should emerge not only with the ability to understand how the financial world works, but also with the ability to take that knowledge and apply it to a specific business. The salary that graduates of an MBA program in business economics will make will depend largely on what area of study they choose to specialize in, where they live, and their previous experience in the field. While there is no guarantee of a specific salary, many MBA level graduates in the field report annual salaries of $75,000. These earnings come from careers in a wide range of industries. Positions may be available as controllers, treasurers, business managers, finance directors and a range of other business-related fields that may or may not be directly related to business economics. Like most business fields, business administration can be a valuable and in-demand field to pursue, especially at the MBA level.
