Accounting Jobs and MBA Programs in Oregon

Many educational and employment opportunities are available for financial managers in Oregon. In Oregon, the income for financial managers is $51 per hour or $105,000 per year. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Beaver State, Oregon is home to 3,825,657 people. It has grown by 11.8 percent in the last 10 years. Salem is the state capital. In 2008, there were a total of 2,339,488 jobs and at $36,365, the average annual income in Oregon was higher than the previous year's per capita figure of $35,737. The unemployment rate in Oregon was 11.1 percent in 2009. It rose by 4.6 percentage points from the previous year. Roughly 25.1 percent of state residents have college degrees. This is below the national average.

Wood product manufacturing, lumber construction materials merchant wholesalers, wood panel merchant wholesalers and footwear merchant wholesalers are the top employing fields in Oregon.

Oregon is known for having important landmarks. At 329 feet the Coast Douglas-Fir in Oregon is considered the tallest tree in the state. One of the many things Oregon is known for, in 1880 a sea cave was discovered near what is now known as Florence. Sea Lion Caves is known to be the largest sea cave in the world.

While working, they advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives and actions and prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts and reports required by regulatory agencies.

They are required to manage and maintain budgets and other financial resources. Also, they must listen well to others and take in their information and issues.

Financial managers should be able to articulate ideas and problems and read and understand documents and reports.

In order to be successful in the workplace, financial managers must have exceptional integrity and be reliable.
