Financial managers can find success in New York as the state has plenty of educational and employment prospects. Currently, there are 56,020 jobs for financial managers in New York and the national job pool is slated to rise by seven percent over the next 10 years. Financial managers conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

Financial managers earn $69 per hour or $142,000 per year on average in New York. Nationally, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

Nicknamed the Empire State, New York has a population of 19,541,453, which has grown by 3.0 percent in the last 10 years. Albany is the state capital. There were a total of 11,289,001 jobs in 2008 and people in New York earned more than the previous year as the average annual income was $48,809, up from $47,628. The unemployment rate in New York was 8.4 percent in 2009, which has grown by 3.1 percentage points since the previous year. Roughly 27.4 percent of New York residents have college degrees, which is lower than the national average.

Securities contracts intermediation, investment banking dealing, notions merchant wholesalers and real estate are the top employing fields in New York.

Financial managers should be able to articulate ideas and problems and read and understand documents and reports.

In order to be successful in the workplace, financial managers must have exceptional integrity and be reliable.
