Accounting Jobs and MBA Programs in Hawaii

Hawaii has plenty of educational and career opportunities for financial managers. For financial managers, there are 2,290 jobs in Hawaii and national projections show the job pool increasing by seven percent over the next 10 years. In general, financial managers conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

State figures show that financial managers in Hawaii earn $40 per hour or $83,000 per year on average. In the U.S. as a whole, their income is $53 hourly or $110,000 per year on average.

Hawaii, also known as the Aloha State, is home to 1,295,178 people. It's population has increased 6.9 percent over the last 10 years. The state capital is Honolulu. There were 873,749 total jobs in 2008 and workers in Hawaii earned more than the previous year with an average annual income of $42,078, up from $40,924. The unemployment rate in Hawaii was 6.8 percent in 2009. It went up by 2.8 percentage points since the previous year. The number of residents with a college degree is 26.2 percent. This is under the national average.

The top employing fields in Hawaii include hotels, clothing accessories stores, full-service restaurants and clothing stores.

Hawaii is known for having important landmarks. Two of the tallest mountains in the Pacific - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - dominate the center of the island. Most of the world's macadamia nuts are grown on the island. One of the many things Hawaii is known for, Haleakala Crater (Ha-lay-ah-ja-lah), is the world's largest dormant volcano.

Financial managers conduct research, prepare reports and formulate plans to aid in solution of economic problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services.

While working, they advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives and actions and prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts and reports required by regulatory agencies.

They are required to manage and maintain budgets and other financial resources. Also, they must listen well to others and take in their information and issues.

Financial managers should be able to articulate ideas and problems and read and understand documents and reports.

In order to be successful in the workplace, financial managers must have exceptional integrity and be reliable.
